- Director
Bio
Best known in Michigan theatre circles for founding Shakespeare Royal Oak and serving as it's volunteer Executive Director since 2001, Ed Nahhat's roots in Detroit area theater go back to acting with the Attic, Detroit Rep, Hilberry, Purple Rose, 4th Street Playhouse, old Performance Network, and the Arab Theatre Arts Guild (ATAG), among others. More recently Ed produced the world premiere of Mitch Albom's Ernie, and has seen several of his own stage plays produced and developed in NYC and locally.
A Wayne State grad in Theatre and Law, Ed spent the last 12 seasons coaching students in Drama Club at his hometown Royal Oak High School; he's also dabbled as a movie actor while practicing law full time for the last 25 years.
Ed saw the original Heather Raffo's 9 Parts of Desire in NYC, and instantly committed to bringing it home. After three award-winning productions starring Sarab Kamoo in association with ATAG in 2007-2008, Ed is gratified to be able to help share this important work with a new audience in 2022.
